I am posting this in the hope that it may help someone, who - Unlike Me - does not have to disassemble half their console when they get the dreaded CODE message on an AJ8700 radio.

If you get the CODE message, and cannot clear it even by slowly and solidly entering what you are sure is your correct code, disconect the car's battery for a period of time and retry upon reconnection.

I had convinced myself I must have written down a wrong code, and ended up pulling the radio to get the radio SN#. While I DID notice a few nicks in the White Wire/w/Brown Stripe that is the "continious power", and taped that wire snugly, when test reinstalled it a few hours later (it having been on my workshop bench for a few hours) - the code cleared on the first try.

I cannot promise it will work for you - but all the other "tricks" I had found here on the site had no effect.

(Deep weeds note: there is no "ROM" battery in these radios that keep the codes stored. Don't take the radio apart looking for one........Like I did)
