Rear exhaust hangar

So, this is my second post on my concurrent issue trying to fix. I have a rattle in the rear drivers side when I go over bumps. I suspect it is the exhaust. I have replaces the rear shocks and the hangar on the rear seems to be in need of replacement too. I am curious if anyone has a good approach to replacing the upper hangar that bolts inside the trunk (boot) and holds up the last muffler. I am hoping it doesn't require taking the exhaust apart, but would be prepared to if that is the best approach to getting at it. Thanks in advance for your prior experience with this fix!

I'm fairly sure you can replace the hanger without removing the exhaust. A peg on the exhaust pipe slides into the rubber cushion of the hanger. It may simply come down to having....or not having...enough maneuvering room for the hanger studs to clear the bodywork and simultaneously have enough room to slide the hanger off the peg. It's pretty tight up there. All you can do is try.

All that being said.....

Have you tried simply tightening the two nuts (inside the trunk) that hold the hanger to the body?

Sorry I can't offer anything concrete. Others will chime in

Cheers

I would also inspect the hanger for over the axle pipe which can be seen with the car on a lift and looking through the front of the Cage.

grab the pipe and try to shake it to see if anything moves. A little movement is normal, under 1/4" inch side to side, anything more is a bad rubber in the hanger.
