Rear suspenion subframe mount replacement

One of my next jobs on the Series 2 will be replacing the four rear suspension subframe rubber mounts. I am expecting this to be not much fun!

Anyone got any tips or suggestions?

Can I do it one side at a time by just lowering on side a time on a jack? This would save me dropping the whole subframe unit.

FUN, HELL YES.

I do them one side at a time, and GREAT care with the jack, and lots of common sense.

The attachments TO the cradle are at awkward angles, and make for a lot of lost time.

I use 2 large diameter "Philips" screwdrivers to slide thru the holes when raised back up, and then juggle the bolts in one at a time, and only tighten when all 4 are in place.

I usually consume heaps of "nectar" during this job, it just eases the grief ever so slightly.

I may hold back on the nectar until afterwards.... hopefully to celebrate a successful outcome!

As soon as those nuts start loosening with nothing shearing or rounding off I will be heading for the fridge :)

Hopefully tackle this job in the next couple of weeks, got the new rubber mounts in the shed ready....
