I gotta ask why are you doing away with the power steering? It's not much $ for pump and brackets. I'm currently putting power steering on my sbc powered chevy luv, can't wait to be able to turn at low speeds. That's a 2500# truck, couldn't imagine a 4000+ car!

Electric motorized power steering works very well and you will never have to replace a hydraulic hose, again.
Also doesn't steal the amount of HP, that the pump uses.
