Default receiver/drier installation question for an 87 xj6

well i broke a cardinal rule when i took many parts off my 87 xj6. i did not take a picture before i removed a part. i am stumped as to which side the glass viewing box is on once it is installed? sitting in the driver seat and looking into the engine bay, is it on the left side or right as it sits on the radiator?

It may not matter.. If the hoses fit on either end....

If Asked, I will take a peek at my 83!!!

My copy of the Jaguar parts guide shows the dryer window on the right side of the car.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I mounted it with the glass viewing port on the left because my memory seemed to indicate the original was installed that way..

maybe it doesn't matter like Carl says? in my car it has always been on the driver's side, on the compressor's side.

Why would it matter other than finding a place where it will physically fit?
AC is a closed system. Refrigerant has to travel through hoses and stuff from here to there and round and round.
Why would it know any difference if the dryer is on this side or the other side of the engine bay?

Elinor he is asking about the little glass window in the Dryer/Accumulator where you can see the liquid coolant bubbling. It appears that whether this glass window is positioned to the left or the right side above the radiator, does not matter.

Yes, thank you, Jose, I understand that.
That was my question, Why would it even matter?

Mine is on the passenger (right) side. The viewing glass could be installed on the dryer on either side by different manufacturers but I think the dryer is directional. My dryer has an arrow on it and was purchased as NOS from David Manners (UK) about 5 years ago. I have seen replacements with no arrows. I believe Guru Doug has mentioned this in a couple of his posts.
So has members on the Jag-Lovers forum.
Whether it makes a difference, I don't know but would love to know if it does.

Well, I had to look. Inconclusive, albeit... No bubble window. I replaced the drier at the time of my conversion., I do not see an arrow to indicated the direction. but, I have never charged my AC>>>
