Refitting Door Seals

Has anyone any advise on how to refit the door seals on a 1972 XJ6 S1?
I have been trying for hours with no luck.
The seals are a little hard but still in good nick.

No, I have taken the seals out of the channel to respray the door and cant work out a easy way to get them back in.
I am restoring (preserving) the whole car.

AT THE SHOP WE USE SILICONE SPRAY AND TRY LIKE THE DEVIL WITH A RUBBER MALLET,THOSE SEALS ARE MOTHERS TO INSTALL.
