Removing harmonic balancer Series 1
I cannot seem to get the harmonic balancer shifted off the crankshaft.
The manual just says remove the 1 5/16 bolt and lever off from the back - no chance.
Made a puller from a strip of steel - as you can see, I'm just bending it, and yes, I have hit it with a hammer.
Help please?

Thanks Robman, today I built another puller in 3/8" steel. Still the same - any more force and I will strip threads. Can't see how to apply heat as the damper has a rubber insert that will burn, and I do not want to have to buy a new one. I may just leave this damper on while I strip the engine.

Your puller is not quite right as to how the force is applied.
Use a heavy bar. Use the two outboard bolts to fasten the bar to the "pulley".
Now, a larger hoe in the center of the bar, aligned with the center of the crank shaft snout,. A larger bolt goes in that hole. And a nut on the pulley side.
So after snugging up all there., Apply torque to the center larger bolt. Now you are creating a push pull force to separate the pulley from the crank snout. .
If still stubborn, use an impact wrench on the center bolt. Vibration and torque usually frees similar ones.

Here is the new puller arrangement. Carl, the only advantage your puller offers is that only one bolt, the centre one needs to be turned so ensuring even force. The force on my puller can be just as great. You cannot pull/push, as any "push" is just bracing against the fixed crankshaft nose.

I'll not debate the push/pull thereom vs your pull vs brace idea. Merely nomenclature !!
The reason the last version of your device worked was that the first one "cocked" the pulley by pulling from one side alone.
The second pulled from opposing sides. Far better!!
And, for the coup de gra. percussion!!!!
