REVIEW: Bluetooth Cassette

Hello!

So for a while i have been thinking about replacing the stock radio in my S3 97 so i can have my tunes off my phone etc. But I cant justify the money and frankly havent found a radio NICE enough to keep the original aesthetics.

I have been using the YE OLD cassette with a phono jack but its so damn poor quality wise and a headache with cables running around the gear shifter.

So i came across this.

A bluetooth cassete that allows for music AND call features. Its actually decent quality and does not feel that cheap in the hand.

Skeptical i was. But hey, its on PRIME and i can send it back if its a pile of poop.

.
Got it the other day and i have to say I am mighty impressed. Not an easy task I have to say, as I am so finicky about sound.

It comes with a mini USB to usb so you can also have it in the lighter socket (with correct adaptor of course) so it charges while it plays. Although I would just have it in the car without unless i was going on a long trip etc

Easy to et up. Make sure you have a usb to wall socket adaptor phone etc to charge up for a couple of hours prior to use. When fully charged you will see a blue light. When not, a red.

The tape slips into the player and has a little cable hang out. Its small enough that its no where near in the way and not very visible. At the end of this are the control buttons.

Hold down the middle button for a couple of seconds to turn on or off.

Funny enough, the voice that says CONNECTED is actually British!! How weird but completely appropriate is that!?!!!

The device comes up on the phone bluetooth search as BT tape

Once connected you just run your music or Pandora as a normal device. The device sends out the signal and your phone should pick it up. You can see the little blue light flashing while trying to connect from the front of the tape deck. Once connected it goes a solid blue.

On the control pad you have PLUS and MINUS buttons too. Press plus once and the track moves forward, press minus and it goes back a track. Straight forward enough.

Press the middle (on /off ) button quickly and it also pauses the music OR answers a call. It also disconnects the call and starts the music.

AN extra nice feature is you can stick in a memory card with your music too. If you have the memory card in the tape, the music on the card takes priority.

I have to say I am loving this tape. Its WAAAAY better than the old tape with jack. And the sound is pretty impressive. So much so that even my wife noticed! Its full, has bass and i cant hear any hiss. It also turns itself off after a few minutes if not in use. BONUS.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to keep the old tape deck. Its such a nice solution at a fraction of cost of changing over a radio or doing some rewiring. Its no Martin Logan speaker etc but its a way to get good tunes on the go.

Below are more pictures.

Hope this helps you guys out.

What a clever gadget, thanks for sharing. An asset for owners of older vehicles that don't want to ruin the originality.

Very cool. I remember when 8-track came out. It was "What, I can listen to music that is not on the radio?" Now my phone has my top 1500 rock and roll favorites. I use the cord type cassette adapter but this looks better. Thanks.

Well you probably owe it to yourself to get this then. I have a 128GB card in my phone with JUST music and trying to run that old school tape thing was doing my brain in. Quality was terrible. And that wire was just a scissor snip away from death hahah

Now i can have it over bluetooth AND answer my calls.

Oh i forgot to add that you can adjust volume from the little dongle thing too! Darn it!
