OH boy,
I would like a tad more info please.
Starts and dies???????
Starts, then fizzles out and wont restart?????
Carbies have been changed????, from what to what???
I will assume that the fuel system has been flushed with clean fuel ALL the way from the rear to the front.
I am also assuming you are in the UK?
I will drink coffee and wait.

You may want to identify the model year of your car in an automated signature. There are two 4.0 engines by Jaguar for these cars. (That I know of)
