Series 111 trunk lid springs
Hi All , Can anyone advise where to purchase new trunk lid springs for my 1986 Daimler V12 VDP as the lid has become heavy and goes only half way up.

you might contact David Boger at Everyday XJ for good used parts.
he dismantles Jags and sells parts to all of us, and worldwide. Everyday XJ |

That was going to be my suggestion. Freight might be the only down fall. Imaginary alternatives: 1. Restore the "spring" by a heat and quench process. 2. Redo he mounts for hydraulic units. 3. A broom handle to prop it up, or a more elegant swinging rod. Carl |
Carl,
Postal Service is not so expensive to Australia as it is to UK. But yes, cheap it is not. he could also research salvage cars locally. curiously, I've never had any trouble with the boot springs, wonder why he is having trouble. |
Thanks , I asked a jag man who has had the same problem and he told me the springs get weak as they are under tension when the lid is close which is most of the time unlike other cars where the tension is off when lid closed, although I have had no trouble with my 81 V12 sovereign owned for many years,Cheers john.

John, Since you're in Victoria try Jag Prestige Spares in Ringwood or JagDaim in Moorabbin. Both are major Jag wreckers and they freight worldwide. In your case freight will be a whole lot less than importing foreign, plus you'll be sourcing from RHD cars (not that it should affect boot springs!)
