shocks-struts
Whats up fellas-im in desperate need to replace all 4. How much $$ should I expect to pay on parts?
Also Is this a job best left for my 100 $ per hour fix guy or is this something I can do with a good jack and a narley set of tools. |
On your car you have 6 shocks (not struts).
If you replaced shocks on any other car you can certainly replace the front shocks yourself. The rears require a spring compressor to remove the springs and transfer to the new shocks. Otherwise a straightforward thing. Pictorial here: Rear Shock And Spring Replacement Cheers DD |
If my guy charges 100 an hour for labor, what do u think the job will cost altogether?

Ask him ! :) Depends how he actually charges for his work. "Per hour" figures might not mean a thing. It really isn't a particularly difficult job, from either a technical perspective or labor perspective. In other words....it doesn't require lots of brains nor does it require excessive grunting. If your guy isn't familiar with Jags he might size up the job differently, though. It looks a bit more complicated than it is at first blush. I'll throw out a number that I could live with if I was paying --- $250 labor to replace all 6 shocks. Of course, it's the rears that are most time consuming. Shocks themselves will probably be $50-$80 each depending which ones you choose and how much time you spend shopping around. Cheers DD |
Thanks Doug for insight-i feel a lot better that this isnt a thousand dollar job.
