source for period correct belts - Britax - for 71 xj6?
I got rid of them, old style belts in mine were "magnetic", have S3 rear belts due to the cool retractor that is just a bolt in for our cars.. plus safer than the stock lap belts.
Put, late model OEM belts into the "B" pillars like the S2 and S3 cars.. gained foot room for the rear passengers and modern designed belts.

Mine degraded and though I looked online for secondhand Britax stuff, no joy.
Sent my old units to Ssnake-Oyl (in Tyler, Texas) and they provided retractor units that matched and put new webbing on all the old fixtures so the look is period. If you want the photos of them as now installed inside the car, happy to provide. They look period, seem up to code, and move nicely using the original tackle (though, thankfully, not put to any real test yet).
If your stock retractors work still, they'll just re-web for you (65$US or plus actual retractor unit webbed 160$US/per).

the correct factory seatbelts in those years would have been by BMC (British Motors Corp.) or also BL (British Leyland).
for new replacement vintage-style seat belts check this company:

All of the Series II seat belt latches are defective.
They are the type, that can disengage during an accident.
The usual test was to tap the latched connection with a hammer handle.
If it disengaged the latch, it should be disposed of.
It is very easy to find late model belts and replace the originals.

I found them and was going to send them to you but they are not the same brand. They are in good enough shape as I remember but very odd... let me know if you want them or they are going out in next weeks trash. Kangol Magnet is the brand - typo in the subject line.

If the fasteners pass the smack test, by not disengaging, then have an upholstery shop sew them onto modern belts, with new retractors.
This keeps the factory stock appearance.
My belts didn't pass but my 1979 MGB did. Go figure.
