Steering column wiring

I was having trouble with my turn signals not working. The hazard lights workedbut the turn signals did not. I tore into the turn signal swithch to find out wahat was wrong. When I pulled thelittle black plug out of steering column this little blue/black wire came out of steering column as well. I can't figure out where it goes. The wierd thing is the turn signals work fine now but the hazards don't work. I also noticed that the horn doesn't work, but it may not have worked before I tore into it. Where the heck does this wire go?

What year is your car man?

I would recomend just going to the dealer with that one, I never even heard of anybody going into the steering wheel column before to fix wiring, so I'm clueless

if it came from inside the steering column, it's the horn/claxon wire, and yes, it is usually blue. but you need to specify your car year and model so that those who know your car can help.

RE: Steering column wiring

did you pull the wire out of the column? or is it just there? if it is the horn/claxon wire (just 1 wire), then you can follow the black steering column down to the gas pedal where you will see an oval cutaway in the column, that's where the horn switch connection is.A picture would help.

what is confusing me is that the turn signal switch does not have any wires into the steering column, it only has a rubber plug which mates with another rubber plug on the main harness.

The turn signal switch contains the Set switch for the Cruise Control, (black wire coming from the stalk push-button), and the Flash to Pass switch for the headlamps, as well as the High Beams switch.

It can be rebuilt with lots of patience and know-how, but when removing it, a lot of disassembly is required including removing the Hazard Switch which is part and parcel of the Turn Signal Switch.

The Blue wire you might be referring to may be the separate blue wire for the High Beams, which has a separate connector, but spliced into the main harness behind the dash.
