Stromberg carb question - new member
my apologies if there's already a forum for this - with all XJ6 Series lumped I couldn't find anything.
I'm working on a 1970 XJ6 - working my way through fuel issues. Replaced fuel pump - then fuel puking out the carb. Suspected sticky needle valve - when I took off the float tank it was full of junk and the U- clip that holds the float pin is corroded of and the tip won't hold the pin in place properly. I'm confident I can rivet the clip in place and perhaps solder/epoxy the tip - it will almost hold nowbut not quite. 2 questions 1. noticed some rebuilt Stromberg 175 CD carbs on ebay - are any Jaguar carbs from the same vintage going to be the same (needle setting etc)? The best deal I've located is from an E-class V-12 2. Does my fix as outlined above make sense as long as the float is the right height and operates properly? |

Do a web search for Joe Curto in College Point, NY. He's the carb guy. Don't let anyone else lie to you.

I'm familiar with SU, but not Weber. Joe Curto might know, but he's mostly a SU repair shop.
There is a Haynes Weber Carburetor Manual (Techbook 10240; covers Weber, Zenith-Stromberg and SU carburetters). You might try to find a copy at any autoparts Service Manual Section. you might also check Jag-Lovers ( www.jag-lovers.com ) where I have seen some threads about Webers on XJ. good luck. Jose |
