Swapping Rims
These rims are for sale locally, they are the only Jag rims I have seen that I would put on my car other than the originals I have now. The seller has dropped the price to $80 for the set of four.
He has had them for sale for four months so maybe I can get them for less than that. The only cars I have seen them on are S3's, so I assume they will fit the stud pattern. Questions. 1.Would they be the same stud pattern 2.Would my 205/70R 15's fit them. 3.Do they take the same wheel nuts. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...af4f27e6cf.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...0441899058.jpg |

At the right price I like the look anyway. Jaguar dress rims 15" | Wheels, Tyres & Rims | Gumtree Australia Redcliffe Area - Scarborough | 1106739053 |
I've seen a few mate and they look good if they fit properly, but hey at that price I'd buy them....I've seen them for up to $100 each......

Turns out they are hub caps :icon_redface:
I bought them for $70, pick them up tomorrow. If I decide I don't like them I can swap back easily and move them on to someone else. Will post some pictures when they are fitted. |
Bugger, they don't fit the series 1 rims. The lugs on the rims for the original hub caps get in the way.
Time to find a new home for them. EDIT: It turns out the guy still has the series 2 rims with near new Pirellis on them, they are on his rod at the paint shop so I can get them when he fits the wheels to it. That gives me a set of S1 rims with my near new tyres for track days.:icon_biggrin: |
Slick. They do look great. Getting the wheels that go with them is great.
In USA speak we termed the "wheel covers" as opposed to the smaller "hub caps". Side bar: A couple of decades ago, a trendy diner opened in down town Walnut Creek. Auto themed. Named "Hub caps". Nice fare, basic USA. Wow, it is gone. Now new "Broderick's". Piled odd stuff. Not my taste. But, some hope, the old owner's now at Mel's. Of American Graffiti fame. Good traditional diner fare. Chicken fried steak, lumpy mashed potatoes, country gravy, etc. Yum!! Carl |
Damn Clarke i just took a set of those off my car yesterday to fit a set of XJS starfish mags.
Be aware that they also require special lug nuts with washer on them because of the springs on the back of the wheel covers. I will probably be selling mine as a complete set. Wheels, covers & nuts. |
Rick, the nuts came with the covers. Now I have a set of near perfect covers and the wheels are available to go with them which I have agreed to purchase I will stick with that.
If only I new yesterday what I know today we could have done a deal on your wheels. |

They also come with little round flat nuts fitted so you can fit hubcaps on them. I've got a set of both types. The types with the little "nuts" are NOS and I prefer the hubcaps to the centre cap.
I wasn't aware of the different nuts required. Is there a picture of them, so I can find the right ones? Or can something else be devised? I still prefer the chrome turbo wheels but they are really hard to find in good nick here. The ideal thing would wheel which looked like the chrome but in a 16" or 17". |

thanks, Clarke.
I'll get some, if I use the wheel covers. |
Fitted and staying.

I was unsure if I would prefer these over the original hubcaps, but after fitting them and seeing them out in the light I think they will stay.

Almost brand new tyres on the rims and near perfect covers for $270.
I now have a spare set of brand new tyres on the rims I took off for track days! Got to be happy with that. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...3d37a436f2.jpg |
Mmmmm....wasn't sure at first Clarke, but they do look good :)

Nice car, nice wheels nice pictures, oh yeah,,,,
Hard rubber spacer or two in the front coils to limit the loads transfer from rear to front in the tight turns???? In that pic, the RR seems just short of losing traction, then weird things happen as propulsion ceases!!! Carl |
