Thanks to member Kudzu

this is to thank member Kudzu for sending me his fix for the outside Wipers Shaft Rubber Covers.

The fit is perfect and since these rubber covers are NLA from Jaguar, they are actually a better solution for deteriorated covers.

How he came about these? I have no clue.

Thank you Brian.

Wait what are these? I may end up needing these for my car as well haha.

if you pull the wiper arms from the wheelbox shafts, you wiill see two rubbber domes or "cups" or covers. The rubber deteriorates and falls apart after 30 years. Many cars might not even have them anymore.

Brian found a similar "cup" cover from engine parts, I forgot the actual engine part they are from, but he posted part numbers and pictures in another thread.

Maybe he will see this thread and repost it here.

I need the rubber bits that isolate that cup from the body.

But.... also yes.... i don't have the rubber between the cup and the wiper either! :( haha, i didn't even know it existed.

do you mean the gaskets under the aluminium or chromed wedges right under the nuts?

someone else here found a way to make those gaskets too.

Hi, here's the thread with pictures of the original seals ( those are the BEST ones I found after searching junkyards etc, most were already split in half or gone ) and my replacements made from engine valve stem seals. Felpro # SS13955 box of 8. They do need to be trimmed by about 1/16 off the skirt to fit correctly. I stuck them over the outside end of a 1/2 cpvc water line union ( any hardware store ) to hold it for trimming with a razor blade, you could use a dowel etc.

Hope this helps !
Cheers,
Brian

covering the nut makes the upgrade more finished or "tailored". Being that the rubber is made to be used inside the engine, they should last another 30 yeas..
