More than a few variables. Nominal dimensions among tire brands vary just a bit, in the same size. Car's "clearances" also vary just a tad.
My somewhat similar SIII is now shod with B.F. Goodrich 215. 70 15 on XJS "lattice" wheels. The latter about an inch wider than the Kents my car formerly wore. The Kents also wore 215 x 15 x 70's.
I enjoyed each. A bit more on the Lattice version source from a KIWI, down the road a piece.
I was "honest" with myself and chose "T" rated touring tires over far more expensive "performance" tires. I am not likely to exceed 125 MPH for extended periods!!!
So far, I am pleased. No tin interference. Nice ride, quiet, corner well, and look great !!!

On the same wheels, Jaguar fitted 205/70 VR 15s on the XJ6s, and 215/70 VR 15s on the V12s. Of course these are difficult to find now, 30 years down the line, so alternative wheel sizes have been fitted, (like 16" of an XJ40) and wider tyres as well. Check the diameter of the proposed tyre against the original to make sure its not too different to ensure the speedo reads about the same.

geez Fraser, who cares about the speedo? haha!
you should be looking at the road not the speedo! Speed is what matters, not the speedo!
ever fast corner a Series 3 with 235/60/15 Dunlops on XJ40 Teardrops?? Think of Tom and Jerry and Jerry gets stuck with glue in both paws, sticky glue.
