Turning Heads in the Construction Zone
 

Last night on the way home with Nix I had to negotiate a construction zone. It was one of those projects where they only work at night so I didn't know anything about when I passed by earlier in the day.

You know the setup, flagger standing there in the glow of 4 Huge Halogens lighting up the area like day, the most boring job in the world. Nix and I were about 6th in line waiting for the pilot car while traffic backed up behind us.

When we were allowed to proceed, at about 5mph, the flagger caught sight of Nix, all shined up as usual, Black car, at night, illuminated by those 4 lights. She watched us pass by. I looked back in the mirror and she was still watching until we were out of the light and into the darkness. Only then did she turn back to her most boring of all jobs.

Nix is still turning heads, even at night.

Yup. tis neat. and, the last time mine quit, it was complimented as the tow driver winched it up on the flat bed!!!

Sidebar. How did you come up with "Nix" as a name for that beauty? Nix is a negative word. Somewhat related to "nicht" in German.


And, that car denotes anything but negativity, just like the mistress.

Thanks, Guys! She brings happiness wherever she goes. As I was leaving the bank today a guy on a motorcycle did the head swivel thing as we passed.

Carl, it wasn't on the freeway, and there were strict traffic controls in place. There was no traffic mess for me. Perhaps those farther back in the line, behind several big rigs might have had trouble getting around the stack-up but not because of me.

I knew someone would eventually ask where I got Nix's name, I'm not at all surprised it's you. :)

Husband spent time in Germany while in the Army and one of his favorite things to say is Mox Nix when something doesn't matter. I've understood that to mean, "means nothing," rather like the Spanish, "Da Nada," "it's nothing."

The car is Black. When the sky is black (space) there is nothing. The car is as Black as Nothing.

So I named her Nix. It sounds so much better than Nada.

Small world. Yup, I served there in 52-55. yeah, we "Ami's" caught on to Macht Nicht
from the locals quickly, and used it a lot. Oddly, the Fraulein, I met and married wasn't familiar with it. There is such a thing as Hoch, "high" and low Deutsche. She was definitely a Hoch gal.


The "de nada" in Spanish is kinda like a welcome in response to thanks. Literaly like our "no problem".


Odd, the "kid" next door came to the door with apologies from his mom. My newspaper bill was mis delivered to them. The apology was for opening it. Perfect useage by me, "no problem". Kid is in his 50's I think!!!


Just kidding about the traffic snarl thing.


Mine is looking kinda sad. Needs a bath. And some high carnauba wax would bring it back. I mowed the front yard. Can't call it a lawn, dry as a bone. Just some straggly grass, some weeds and tons of leaves from the neighbors magnificent magnolia.
Well it is uniform now!!!Might pull the Jaguar and Jeep on to it and give 'em baths. Oh, then awful mud....
