Urgent Advice on Vinyl Roof

3 Attachment(s)
Hey all,

I need some high powered advice on buying a vinyl roof.

So I've found what I think is a LWB Series 2 Daimler Double Six with a vinyl roof,
I'd really like to take the vinyl off and attach it to my LWB Series 3 Daimler Sovereign.

So the questions:

Is it even going to be the correct size?

Could it be removed and reattached with out terrible damage to the vinyl?

If so, how?

Has anyone here done this or anything similar?

Would it be easier/cheaper to get one made?

Also as a side note will the chrome side finishers fit my LWB?

Thanks in advance,
Harry

Memory here, so watch out.

Our S2 V12 had the vinyl roof.

It tucked under the front and rear glass seals. This is a different set up on the S3 I think?

Removing one, never done it, but others here have, and the fabric will damage for sure.

Also, I think??? the rear 1/4 bit of the 2 roof panels are different, so I doubt the S2 will fit the S3 contour.

Someone will have more suggestions.

Ya, I would advise against it. I had one on a '67 Cougar. They look great, but are rust incubators!

Rodger that!

Proceeding with not doing it.

Cheers guys

One way of preventing the rust trap would be to give it two or three coats of epoxy primer then paint and apply the vinyl on top.

If you like that look, have the roof painted. A very dark charcoal color would give a similar custom look. You could even have the painter add gloss reducer for a low sheen, yet durable, mat finish to mimic the vinyl look even more.

A 2nd option it to have it "wrapped". Custom wrap shops are popping up all over the country.

Great ideas people, I've already wrapped it :P

Wanting to get closer to the original.

I've taken off two vinyl roofs.

1 series 1, went off perfectly. No rust.

1 series 3 went off in pieces and had a lot of rust.
