In the past, I think, some tires were euphemisticly marked "M&S".
Only a tad more aggressive tread, if at all. Going to the somewhat nearby Sierra Madre for winter sports quite popular. Snow makes the passes tough. At one time a 4x4 on M&S rated tires might escape the
"chains only" required by CHP at such times.


And way back Firestone offered a real muds and snow. Dirt track racers loved them in the largest size available. 8;20 x 15!!! Very aggressive tread pattern... Noisy on dry pavement, though.


In snow country, folks often had a pair of extra wheels with snow tires mounted.


Spiked snow tires outlawed decades ago...


I grew up in west Texas. An occasional snow turned the town on it's ear. Fun for us teens, though!!!
