Wheel Upgrade Suggestions
I just recently got a stock '85 vdp and want to upgrade my wheels. I'd like to do a 17" or 18" but don't know where to begin. Does anyone have pics of their car with ugraded/aftermarket wheels and where they got them? Or, if anyone knows how to determine what wheels will fit? TireRack was about useless, and I don't know enough about wheels to figure it out myself-yet! Does anyone know backspace, offset, width, and bolt pattern/size of the stock wheels, and how this relates to getting new wheels? Thanks in advance! Randy

RE: Wheel Upgrade Suggestions
You can use any of the later Jaguar wheels including the XJ8 and XK8 models. The S-type and X-type wheels will not fit. I'm no help with aftermarket.

RE: Wheel Upgrade Suggestions
well I'm glad someone else has the same opinion I have about tirerack, they're useless! not to mention they take three weeks to reply to an inquiry by which time I've already gotten something DONE! haaaaahhh! Sorry but...let the truth ring...
I'm no help with aftermarket either, I only use Jaguar wheels.Best to take the car toa localcustom shop and let them dothe measuring of your existing wheels for conversion to larger wheels, they do it every day. Ken ! what are you doing hanging around here? haaaahhh!! |
RE: Wheel Upgrade Suggestions
OK, then is there a year range for the XJ8 or XK8 wheels? I found a tire calculator that compares wheel sizing ie. how the overall diameter of my stock 15" compares with a 18" and lower profile tire. I would love it if I could use Jaguar wheels, just want to make sure the backspace, offset, bore etc. matches up.
