Wiper Blades
Hey all you series II owners out there. Which blades are you using? 13" or 15"? I can only find black blades but my arms are silver. Suggestions??

I wiped my reply prematurely!!!
Short version, very much so... Use the black. paint the arms to match in black, preferably flat black. helps in sun glare reduction. Or paint 'em with rattle can chrome??? Carl |
Try these.
https://www.amazon.com/Trico-33-150-...28Pack+of+1%29 Their appearance and overall sheen matches the wiper arms exactly. Much better than black IMHO. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...03790c1dfd.jpg |
thanks
I will for sure try those.
Nice collection of cars by the way!! Which steering wheel are you running with? Not sure if you have the same dash as me. Does your map light under the dash have a cover on it? Mine does not. I assume it must have come with one. Its the one original part I am missing...... |

I don't even want to think about it. LOL (';') |

This is a positive thing! It's one less plastic lens to cook and shatter! The bulb does a good enough job on the socket, which is why I put LED in mine. (';') |

LEDs!!!
Wasting time yesterday. I have a "miner's" lamp. Powered by three AA cells. A cluster of LEDS. All housed in a weird plastic clunk. I got it to work, once a bit ago. Now, it defies my efforts. VOM approved the batteries. Toss all of it or salvage the LED cluster??? Tossed in a corner of the bench amongst other clutter in disgust. Carl |
I use a 16 inch at the Driver's side and a 15 inch at the passenger side. One reason the industry went to all black arms and blades is because of reflections of the sun on the driver.

Jose:
That was my vote. Way back when, I ordered a crash pad cover. J. C. Whitney, I think. Initials embroidered. Mine to the right, dear departed wife's on the right. That is why I keep it. But, I did err, it is a beige, intended to "match" the buckskin interior. Nope, black would be better. The reflected sun light thing. Jordonmc: Can you keep the original holders and merely refill them with fresh rubber? There are means of "softening' marginly hard rubber w/o making a huge mess. Trouble is, I don't remember the house hold product that would do that. Armorall or other siicon based product??? In college, I worked at a "full service station". We used RuGlyde on hardened rubber suspension bushings. with some success. At times, the boss sub'd in brake fluid?? The former might do it, the latter, not a great idea. It is a great paint remover!!! All, if you care: I solved the Miner's lamp dilemma. A button controls the on/off. Sequential presses. on, one LED, two LEDs, all LEDs and then off. Tried it in the darkened garage. Not bad. Handy when I'll need two hands and a light!!! Carl Carl |
Carl, yes the sun. I think Moss Motors might have the polished stainless wiper blades. Also they still make them in the UK. My S type still has the polished stainless arms but I use black blades. TRICO is another company that might still make the stainless blades.
