Wiper dont work, xj12 s3,

Hi,
I dont get wipers to work, totally dead.
No power (electricy) to the wipermotor.
I have check the switch.
I get no power om the fuse either, should it not be +12v there?
Where can I find the relay?
Any tips so i can get it to work?
Thanks.
/Mats from Stockholm

No voltage on either side of the fuse with the engine running? Do you have a copy of the S57 wiring diagram?

Matcol 05-17-2019 05:01 PM

No voltage at all on the fuse and i dont have the diagram.

You can find the very essential S-57 wiring diagram on Jose's web site. Find the link down the page and download it and then print out the relevant pages. Get a 12v test light and dig in.

there is a blue relay located in the passenger side, under the dash, behind the fuse box but that relay is only for the intermittent function of the wipers, .(switch arm all the way down or by pulling the switch stalk arm towards the rear for a single wipe).

you can download the S57 guide in my website.

Thanks for all tips.
I have no power on the fuse, so i must search where from its feed.
Sorry for my english :-)

are you checking for voltage with the ignition switch in the Accessory position?

Matcol 05-20-2019 09:43 AM

Yes, and also with engine running.

Power to the fuse comes from the Ignition load relay. This relay also sends power to fuse #5. If fuse #5 also lacks power, then the relay is suspect.

I think you are on the right way Doug.
I am at the work just now, but i think there is no power on fuse 5 either.
I will try to find that relay, I have find info in another tread here in the forum and what I can see there is a "standard" relay like this?
I hope that will fix my proplem.

The relay you've pictured will be fine as a replacement. The original is probably round....but that isn't important

Now it works.

I find the problem, relay.
Little soldering and now it's ok again.
Thanks for all help.
