Default XJ Coupe? Where can I fine one for sale?

I really want the 2 door. Yes, I know, it'll have to be a series 2, but the lines on the 2 doors are sublime. What is a fair price for a dependable driver? Is a lump worth considering?

Only around 5000 of the XJ Coupes were built.

A chap round the corner from me when I lived in Birmingham in the early 80s had one (a 4.2 six), and it was very nice. All mechanicals as per the saloon. Do be aware, however, that the body engineering to make the 2-door shell was done on the cheap, and put in a serious rust trap at the bottom of the rear window space above the sill (=rocker in USA).So a large number of cars will have succumbed to serious rust as it is at this point that the two radius arms on the rear suspension bolt to the body.

Walter,
They are out there, but the ones I have seen were pretty rough. Go for the 6 if a lot of work is required. Go for the 12 only if the car is in good condition as a V12 engine is a money vacuum and only marginally better than the straight 6 in the performance dept.
Do let us know what you find.

Walter1892, have you found a Coupe yet? They are probably easier to find in the States and Australia than in the UK due to our propensity to salt the roads - they tend to disolve here - visibly!

i have a 1975 XJ12C, coupe, with ultra rare 4 speed manual, 5 genuine jaguar wire knockoff wheels.

5 like new michliens.

paint black ,tan leather interior,

rebilt engine 2001, under 10K since ,94K overall.
rebilt rear diff, and all sub frame pieces, new dampers.

brake system redone ,calipers and pads.

pre-owner spent lots of money, with a pro jag shop in dallas tx, all work professional.

runs and drives excellent!

OK a reality check,, as typical XJ rust issues, needs both floor pans and both rocker pans, some rust in other small areas. structual still solid,(worth repairing)

needs front seat leather redone, vinyl good shape, rear seat good condition.
headliner like new.

$6500. Austin Tx i can email pix to you

email; ronbrothers@gmail.com

MAKE ONE!

Another venture I will be undertaking(starting next year after Christmas) as I can make my car into a 2 door for cheaper than buying & shipping here 2 doors.
With all the metal work & frame work that needs to be done I can knock it out at the same time.
I can easily do a door post move & not have to add extra bracing. But I want to do it postless like the XJC's. So all the extra bracing will be mandatory. I am also going to do a vinyl top.

I know I could just as easily buy a XJC & be done with it. But what is the fun in that.

espresso!! do you know that the coupe has a 4" inch shorter wheelbase, compared to the 4dr sedan.

that would make an odd lookin XJC.

and the mystic of a V12 is great for conversation.

It would be odd regardless because it is a SIII.
I need bigger doors. Both doors are pretty small. Contrary to what people think the Jaguar is not that long. The USDM bumpers make them look REALLY long. BUT, I have a Euro-Spec car so I have the smaller bumpers. I ma looking to see the difference in SII & SIII bumper mounting(I want the all chrome SII bumpers & fender mounted signals)

The XJC is only a 5" shorter wheel base (I am also putting on a bigger & wider wheel). BUT the overall length of the car is only 1/2" shorter. Which equates to the bumper changes. So it will not look too odd.

Just imagine this type front on a SIII TWO door.(I want the stance also....getting that covered with some coil-overs;D )

In case you're still looking for a coupe, Motorcars Incorporated, Plainville CT. has a gorgeous v12 coupe for sale. Beautiful silver paint, blood red interior that looks day 1, new vinyl top, etc. They've been apecializing in Jags for years. Bought my 04 xj8 from them. Ask for Joe Cusano.
