XJ6 Coupe Front Window Part

All you coupe Owners will recognize this part as the "window scratcher" that applies pressure to the two front power windows to help keep them from rattling. I am either removing them completely or if someone has a proven fix - I'm all ears.https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...015e279d80.jpg

Fix? What is wrong with it?

Over time it scratches the window in a continuous line up the window that you can never get out. I think only the Coupe has them because the window is larger and there is no channel to guide the windows.

i have a coupe I am working through, and am familiar with this. The car was kludged together during a difficult, cost cutting time for Jag. I'd suggest adding felt to the glass facing area (or similar friction minimizer) rather than deleting it - cost was obviously justified at the time which leads one to suspect it solved a known problem...

Agreed. But... have to be very careful not to create a situation whereby sand especially can catch on it. Then scratch again will occur.

While the door is apart I've sound proofed it with roofers tape that has gotten mixed reviews out on Youtube, but I did it anyway. Have already done it inside the rear quarters when the windows were removed back there. And... I never got the door lock solenoid to work unlocking the door so I'm going the route of a GM motorized with gears door lock "solenoid". I haven't received them yet but for $20 for the pair I figured I'll give that a shot. I'll keep updating this posting as to my progress.
