Yet another Series 3 interior puzzle ?

Hi everyone,
I've come across yet another strange puzzle after looking at purchasing a potential parts car. It has an 1/1984 build date with door codes PDE / HDD which should be Jet Black paint with Sage ( green ?) interior right ? The seller never drove it / has no idea what has been done to it ( it was more or less abandoned on inherited property ). I'm going to inspect it this weekend, but the pictures I've seen look like it's Black ( check ) with light grey door panels but light blue seats / cubby lid with dark blue piping ? Huh !! ? Only plan on using it for parts IF I buy it ( heading towards bad windshield rot ), but still wondering what happened / was done to it by PO. I thought the two tone piping was just the very last Canadian / Euro XJ12's ? Appreciate any ideas or info on this strange combo.
Cheers
Brian

Wow, that is something. The photos look baby blue. And I've never seen a green interior in an XJ6. Can't wait to hear what it looks like in person. Also, it would be interesting to hear if it is leather or vinyl. I know a guy that had an antique car reupholstered and let his little girl pick the color.

The lesson for us all is if you don't want your Jaguar to wind up inherited and abandoned, make sure your executor knows what you want the estate do with it. Since my family and friends don't share my love of Jaguars I left instructions on how to make sure they get to someone that will appreciate and care for them.

I couldn't even find "HDD" trim code in my reference material.....although it was just a quick peek. Where did you find it?

The interior, except seats, looks more like Savile Grey to my eyes

The piping is incorrect for an '84, as you say

I'd say it's a previous-owners-mix-n-match interior

Cheers

Hi Doug,
I found the HDD reference ( via google ) as an accent color to a different trim code ( to many sites, not sure where ). The other place / list was on the Xclusively Jaguar site which has a huge list of Jag trim codes. I figure it's been "modified" just really wondering to what extent and if all the parts are Series 3 or something else held together with "bailing wire" & "good intentions " !!! Trying to figure out as much as I can before inspecting the car so I know what the various pieces might have come from.

Cheers
Brian

That is almost certainly Savile Grey...the blue piping is not standard (never available on these seats for North America -the contrasting piping in the 1992 Canadian V12 cars was on the Daimler-style seats, not these). And there was no green interior available for the Series III cars for North America either clearly these seats were recently made -and they do look good, but absolutely not to original standard.
