Hello again, Moving right along, Has anyone refinished, wet sanded, sanded, scraped the front and rear bumpers? as you can see mine are pretty nasty from sun damage, Welcome to sunny Florida. Any direction is appreciated...

Never heard of wet sanding rubber before, I massage mine in leather conditoner and plastic conditioner, I've heard commercial office printer roller treatment is the best, most products simply strip a layer off to emulate a fresh look but its really quite harsh. Tire shine priducts often do this.

You csn also Plast Dip it in jet black to form a non permenant paint skin.

Ohhh i like the Plast Dip idea. Yeah this baby has cracks in it from being dried out, I put tire shine and conditioner on it, Il try pretty much anything, before trying to find new rubbers
Thanks

Cracks can be filled with poly urethane or a liquid rubber/plastic, liquid electrical tape comes to mind but sprayfoam is much easier to smooth out with fine sandpaper if its visibly flat before dipping it shpuld be fine. Would make an interesting step by step process for everyone to see.

I am going to do a little more research, waiting for a guy from California to e-mail me about a product I found on line, Once i,m sure about the application, I will pick one and make a step by step video to post to the forum. Thanks for your help.

Google "honda bumper sem" this sem product makes black bumpers look great and is extremely durable. Pre clean many times with wax and grease remover aka "preps all".

I have an Alfa with similar Rubber decay, Ive decided to vynil wrap those pieces. I wont be spending too much time or money on it, and the result is visibly better. Plus you can choose any color or finish, such as satin or gloss

Have you thought about removing the bumpers and installing a fibreglass front, rear bumper.

You have a very nice XJS - but the bumpers detract from it in my opinion

Cheers
Steve

Hey Steve, I like the body kit, I had a 1984 corvette i actually put one of these kits on it in the states they called them the Ferrari kit. I got info from the guy in California, they also suggest a rubber dip. It comes in gallons, its used to cover tool handles. I,l try that first
Thanks to all I will keep you informed.
