Default 1984 rear bumper shock

I did a stupid thing I know. I tried to pull my 1984 xjs back in my garage with a come-a-long, I hooked to the rear bumper. You guessed it. I pulled the whole bumper shock out, with the nut still attached to the end of the shock, on the left side. How do I reattach or replace this? I can't see where or how it's attached. Thank's for any help.

If you remove the aluminium panel inside the rear face of the boot below the book lock hoop, and the carpets, you will see the end of the chassis tube through the rear panel that the bumper strut fits into.
