1988 XJS Cabrio. Intake question

Hello there guys.

Id likentondo my valve cover gaskets and thought I may as well take care of coolant lines etc.

So so is there a link anywhere before I start to tear my car down. I’d like info on removing the upper intakes fuel rails and upper intakes.

Im also curious as to what the sensor is that rides the throttle pedestal. It has two electrical connectors

any help is appreciated.

Hello and Welcome.

You will want to head over to the XJS section for links and guides relevant to the 5.3 litre V12. Lots of assistance to be found there.

The X305 XJ12 has the 6.0L last-gen V12, although the engine itself is very similar. But the ignition and cooling systems between 5.3 and 6.0 are significantly different.

The throttle pedestal probably has a position sensor on it, possibly an idle switch too, like the 6.0.

Thanks

I’ll have to find the right place to post.

Welcome to the forum Animalguy10,

I've moved your question from XJ XJ12 ( X305 ) to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Good plan.

The entire intake and fuel rail assembly comes off as one. Just a matter of undo the fuel pipes and the 24 small 7/16th bolts that hold the manifolds to the heads. You just need a helper to remove it once all bits are undone.

It is the Throttle position sensor underneath, after that I am not sure what the 6 litre nippondenso ignition cars have. Post a pic maybe?
any help is appreciated.

Do renew all the HT leads, plugs, and all coolant lines and thermostats. Also, very important to remove the rad and clean out the gap between the rad and the aircon condenser
