I guys i have 89 xjs 5.3 v12, the power steering fluid is leaking as soon as i put it in 5 mins later its all leaked out. How hard is it to fix this leak as im not very mechanical.

 

You need to identify where the leak is coming from; is it the rack itself, the hoses/connections or the cooler?

 

dont forget the pump


put a large bit af flat cardboard under the car, and turn over the engine, if its leaking that much i would turn it of right away , look at the cardboard and it will give you a clue to where the leak is


the hoses are prone to wear and or cuts, the unions can go but are more robust, the pump seal can go ,

but as above , you need to identify the leak first


on the V12 there is a cooler mounted on the front subframe on the left of the engine bay b the engine mount, they can rot out to ,

My pipe and rack were peeing out oil. I resealed the pump and will be doing the rack this weekend. Then it should be better than new.
