Following instructions in the Jaguar Service Manual Vol. IV for the Front Door Glass renewal/(replacement), I removed the two channel securing bolts, the channel and the rubber. The glass window slides in rubber in the channel.

The problem and puzzle are the threaded bolt holes in the channel no longer line up with their holes in the door, they're off by 3/4".

The channel is a fixed length and has two threaded bolt holes in it, one at each end. See the pictures, I hope. The door has two specific holes for the channel bolts. The door didn't grow and the channel didn't shrink. It's insane! What has happened?

 

You're not confusing one of the door card clip holes at the bottom of the door with the actual bolt hole are you? That channel is angled quite a bit with the lower hole some distance forward of the rear of the door.

 

Bingo! That's exactly what happened, Baxtor. Thank you for the slap across the face. I'd like to call that a senior moment, but truth be known, I disregarded my high school algebra teacher's instructions.

He said, "if you have four minutes to work a problem, spend three minutes reading it and one minute working it. "You can't solve a problem if you don't understand it." I didn't read the text and study the images well enough.
