1992 XJS Fuel Return Line Leaking
 

Backed out of the driveway Saturday and noticed wet spots following me. Checked it out and had fuel dripping from the bottom of the cross member. the top of the engine looked dry, though. Took off the LH air cleaner box to have access to the entire fuel supply/return system and notice the cadmium plated metal device spliced into the rubber hose. I started the car and it definitely was leaking from the device or from one of the beadlocks. It looks like some sort of regulator in addition to the one on the A bank fuel rail. I've searched and searched to internet on any info on this part and looked through the shop manual to no avail. Went to the junkyard yesterday and there is currently a 92 XJ40 in the yard with two of these metal cans on the fuel system. A bigger one on the return and a smaller one on the supply side. What is this device and what is it's purpose?

Mmmm, pulse damper maybe, but the Jag parts catalogue has it as part of the whole fuel return line, and depending on engine number $243, or NLA, oops.
