1995 XJS Convertible Top issue

Afternoon, folks. Just took delivery of another XJS. This one was advertised as all working and seer even specified that the top was in perfect working order.
Pulled the parking break, tried to drop the top, back right window went down. Back left window did not. And then of course the top doesn’t drop either.
So, I’m obviously contacting the seller to get credit. In meantime, what are some parts I should be researching price of? Hard to find a guy here in town that knows what he is doing to fix...
Any thoughts on fair credit for this issue?
I know this is a tall order but should I find cost of pump and motor and?? To be safe here?
What are some costs to ballpark to fix a myriad of issues.
Thanks!!

The rear quarter windows are on a timer, they are controlled by the top ECU in the trunk. When you held down the switch for the top, did you hear the pump run?

For the windows, there are 4 relays for them in the trunk, above the battery. When the quarter windows go down, the ground path for the motor is the up relay, and vice versa. Relays are always rated less on the normally closed pin, and those contact arc and burn over time. I suspect your window problems will be cured by new relays. Get 40 amp ones ( usual auto relays are 30 amp) and match the pin numbers - i.e. 30, 85, 86, 87, 87a. Here is an example of one that will work: https://www.digikey.ca/product-detai...2161-ND/646987

fletchccc,

The timer delay on the rear windows only operates on the "Up" cycle. So, when lowering the hood, it should start to go back immediately the button is pressed at the same time as the windows are going down.

Really silly question, but you have undone the catches on the header rail before operating the hood?

Thanks, Paul!
Ha. Yes. I own a matching car and luckily have an example of how it all works. Bought this one to give to my brother. (Grandfather used to drive this exact car so sentimental for us!) did some trouble shooting after finding another thread on here.
I went to the trunk and found that the roof pump was switched to manual. I switched to hydrolic and got back in the car.
Turned car on and unlatched the hooks. Hit the roof button and the roof crawled to life.
When I say crawled, I mean it CRAWLED. Needed some help to get all the way back and back forward.
When I got it back up, the rear window did close.
So, follow up question: when I switched it to Hydrolic, I noticed a bit of fluid seeping out of just below that black switch. (Above the motor pump). Assume there is a bad seal there and thus a leak. If I can see small seeping there, should I replace that o ring and refill fluid and hope that fixes it completely? And if so, what model/type of seal?
Thanks all!
