3.6-4.0 aj6 in a 1990 xjs

my project is going very smoothly, fitted a 4.0 aj6 and getrag 290 into my 1990 auto 3.6.
all good so far.
however after trying to connect the engine harness im having an issue. after it goes through the firewall and to the ecu area(a manual xj40 ecu) the yellow socket pictured below doesnt fit with the xjs one.

I don't see any way around it. In your case you might be able to remove the terminals and relocate them in the socket....rather than splicing wires.

In any case, you'll need to find out what the wires do

When I did my 6-cylinder to V12 conversion I had to spend a fair bit of time melding V12 circuits and looms into a 6-cylinder car. In some instances I was able to abandon V12 circuits, simplifying matters.

Hopefully someone with XJ40-specific experience will chime in with something more helpful

Cheers
