Got my new milling machine set up and finished shortening the inlet valve stems. The digital quill depth gauge made this much quicker.

I'm off to Melbourne on this Saturday with the heads for Norm to bolt them on. Hopefully not too long now I'll have the engine back.

I know I haven't updated this for a while, I have been buying tools in order to make a few bits and pieces, on the todo list are custom intake manifolds, Aluminium 1/2 moon seals. Also Norm has been unwell so progress has been slow. I now have full inhouse machining capability. If I had this mill earlier I would have done all the machining. this will will fit a V12 engine block on the table.

Plan is as soon as I have the mill running are to fabricate new intake manifolds that look stock

A good ol pommie lathe

Yes that is a 6' ladder behind the mill

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the results. I assume you'll be welding some alloy tubes to a nice sized plenum to replicate the original look?

I was thinking of fiberglass plenum and runners fixed to an aluminium flange. Plenum will have aluminium molded in for TB mounts.

Sounds brilliant. Can you taper the fiberglass runners?

I was thinking about that but after doing some research tapered runners are probably not going to add anything in my engine, so most likely straight. I was thinking how I will mold , them, probably use a PVC pipe and bladder.

Warren check out this plug...

Mabye a plug made from copper pipe would be easier and use carbon fiber sleeving instead of the stuff he used.

Norm was ill for a while which stalled the build. I had lunch with him Monday and the pistons are done and ready to start assembling the engine.

I will update as things progress. I have not abandoned this project, way to many $$$ in it now.

Totally impressed with your machine shop. You are a machinist as well as an electrical engineer.

My trade is electronics and I grew up in a machine shop, my dad was a tool maker and had his own injection moulding shop.

I just love designing, making and repairing thinkgs
