88 XJSC Factory Oil Filter Discontinued?

I called the local Jaguar dealer about getting an oil filter so I can do an oil change on my 88 XJSC and they told me the oil filter was discontinued. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, any suggestions for a good aftermarket brand??

If the filter for your 88' is the same as the 85' model here is a list of filters available, search the brands and part numbers on ebay and it should throw up some in your region.

I'm afraid your Jaguar dealer has completely misled you and presumably doesn't know much about older models.

The filter has always been available from Jaguar, EBC9658 as mentioned. See the Jaguar website here:

Oil Filter-Relief Flow Oil Cooling-5.3 Litre - Parts For XJS from (V)139052 to (V)179736 | Jaguar Heritage Parts UK

Good luck

Well......The dealer wasn't wrong, technically

The oil filters originally used on the V12s are, indeed, no longer available. The EBC9658 is a replacement that replaces two or three older filters/part numbers.

If the dealer indicated that Jaguar no longer supplies a suitable filter.....which appears to be the case with the dealer in question.....that is obviously wrong.

I was made to believe that the OEM Manufacturer is Mann (W930-13). I have been using Mann, and occasionally Mahle (OC238).

You can do some research and your head will explode from all the information available. Be careful what you wish for.

All the dealer said was that they are discontinued and didn't even mention another filter that fits it (and the guy was rude). Once I saw your post and called back with the EBC9658 part number I had no problem getting one.. so thank you!!!
