95 XJR AJ6 turbo transplant to a 92 XJS
The May 2016 Jaguar World (#170) a UK reader letter is displaying a
1992 XJS with A Supercharged 95 XJR AJ6 engine.
He states it took some major upgrades to the XJS engine compartment.
He had some other issues that he had another auto performance company
a few months to resolve. It cost about 16k pounds ($32k AUS) to do the
upgrade.
Has anyone stateside used a XJR AJ6 blower unit in a XJS ?

To answer your question as to whether anyone stateside used an XJR blower unit on an XJS, all I can say is that I was not at all surprised by how hard it was for that guy to sell those two XJS' modified to S/C. The enthusiasm for this kind of mods, or just about any kind of mod from the XJS crowd here in the US is pretty much non-existent. Personally I think that, had Jaguar placed the supercharged AJ16 engine on the XJS, it would've been nothing short of a miracle. Acceleration, regardless of whether six or V12, was never the XJS forte and a s/c would've been the perfect answer. My personal solution to that was nitrous injection.
I'm no longer subscribed, so I'm going to go buy the May 2016 issue of JW magazine. It sounds interesting.

Yes, the article is about a standard AJ16 XJR engine, not an AJ6. The conversion has been done a few times here in the UK. The two big problems originally encountered were how to fool the standard x300 ecu into working, because it is integral to the security system of the x300 car, and how to get the air trunking to fit on a RHD car. The conversion is easier now with the advent of bespoke after-market ecus. When fitted with the preferred manual box, the car is very quick!
Jaguar never made a production S/C AJ6 although they did make a prototype 4WD police XJS with a turbocharged AJ6. It's still owned by Jaguar. A company then made a very limited number of twin turbo AJ6 XJ40 saloons which were called "Chasseur Stealth". Extremely rare, by a strange coincidence one of them is going to auction in a few weeks: 1994 Jaguar Chasseur Stealth for Auction - Anglia Car Auctions
