ABS ECU blink code trouble shooting

I've a 1995 XJS - with the DAC 10056 ATE ECU - I've a ABS light on - found the small three prong plug near the ECU ( in the boot left hand side ) shorted the barn/pink wire to the black - turned on ignition got what I think is a blink code 2 1 3 2 ... then the light shuts off - if I turn off and turn on the ignition I get the same blink code... what does it mean as a fault... wheel sensor ? etc..

thanks

DM914,

Blink Code 21 is a failure condition of the Main Valve. Of course it could relate to teh wiring loom rather than the valve or even the circuit in the ABS ECU.

Blink Code 32 is the right front wheel sensor.

Hope that helps.

not what I wanted to here but it helps - Can the main valve be repaired ? I've seen seal kits ... the right from wheel sensor should be easy....

DM914,

Don't condemn the Main valve just yet. I've never heard of one failing. The interconnectivity of the circuits could well mean that it's one of the wheel circuit ABS valves that has a lack of continuity that is throwing up a 21 code, rather than the Main valve itself.

The way that the Blink code system works means that it won't show you a 20-series code higher than 21 until you've fixed 21. The wheel circuit ABS valve codes are 22-27, so the way to check them is to run continuity checks. You can do this by back-probing and running the 32 ABS continuity checks as per teh workshop manual or alternatively, try running current to each wheel circuit valve valve and see if you can hear them all energising.

As regards Main valve seal kits - where have you seen those advertised? I've never seen one of those! Very interested.

Good luck

Paul

thanks for the help the 32 code is now gone as I replaced the right front ABS wheel sensor - but ABS light is still on so ran test again and now I have code 21 34 - which sensor is that one -

If they we're so darn expensive I'd just replace them all and be done... but ...

hopefully replacing one more will fix the issue...

34 is rear left. I have the 21-2 code on mine.
