Air temperature switch A bank side air filter box?

Hey guys,

what is the air temperature switch on the A bank side air box got for a function?

It was fitted to engines from 64245 onwards... I wouldn't be surprised if it is a Marelli specific part...

Number is DAC5061

Any ideas? Sure, temperature, but isn't that what the B bank temperature sensor is for? As it is a switch, something must be switched on/off!?

Cheers

Damien

All I know is that my car ran poorly when it was disconnected.

Daim 04-05-2017 02:32 PM

Okay, so it serves a purpose, just what kind? ;)

Not quite the same part. What I am taking about isn't a sensor. It is a switch. A bimetal strip in a plastic casing...

But it might well be, that the switch was used on earlier models than the sensor shown in fig. 2 in your drawing...

I could see if I can find a temperature at which it activates. If 25° then it is exactly that.

The switch on the back of the A air cleaner is a bi-metal strip and closes at 75°C its function is to retard ignition at high temperature.

What exactly would that accomplish in normal road conditions? Dumb it down to compensate for a hot climate/engine temp or something?
