Alarm/Security Manual & FOB Manual Reset Instructions or Manual
 

Hi guys, I was hoping someone could please lead me towards getting a manual to a 1993 Jaguar XJS Coupe FOB reset. Sometimes apparently you can get a downoad or physical booklet on resetting the FOB? I could also really use a manual for the alarm/security system for the car as well.

I have the manuals for the 1992 my alarm system, if you pm your info I can email them to you (it may take a couple days though). I don't know if the 1992 system is the same as your 1993, but it may still be useful even if they're not. I also don't recall if it spells out how to set up the fob.

On my '92 the easiest way is to disconnect the negative (ground) wire from the battery, re-connect, and at every beep press the fob button, either the same one if you only have one or a different one after the beep.

93 was a slightly odd year. Early 93 models had the "19k" alarm system fitted as standard. I'm not sure if this was the same as the optional alarm fitted to the 92 and earlier cars but it does have a backup battery so Malc4d's suggestion may work.

Later 93 cars have the Jaguar factory alarm system which does not have a backup battery but the FOB's can still be reset. Forum member Spikepaga describes it in this video.

Doesn't matter if it has the backup battery...it will be dead as a dodo, as its been unavailable for years so any battery that was there has long gone a.w.o.l.

I would like to know where the backup battery is located in the '93 Coupe or any year XJS
I would also like to know how you can tell the difference between a 19K security system and a Jaguar system.

The purpose of the backup battery is to maintain the alarm system if the primary battery wires are cut

There is only an emergency procedure in the '93 manual. The primary instruction is to go to the dealer. The emergency procedure is to disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery and you will hear one second chirps. At that point press the remote button five times and the single remote is programed.
I would think, to program multiple remotes, you would press the first remote once and the second remote twice, and the third remote twice, thus maintaing the magic number five,

In '91 - 93ish cars, the alarm is in the trunk bolted onto the right rear light fixing bolts. Its a black box between the antenna and the rear light. Under this box there is a smaller plastic box which is the adjuster screw for the 'bump' sensor. Behind this box is another with the backup battery, Which will be deader than a dodo and is NLA. Found the battery; dead as a doornail, but in excellent outer appearance. Don't think I will replace it as it only serves as a backup in case the primary battery is disconnected. If somebody breaks into the trunk the alarm goes off. Besides nobody pays much attention to alarms.

My 95 XJS Security system is different and it came on and I cannot turn it off without disconnecting the battery..I've put the key in the ignition, doesn't work, put the key ion the door lock , doesn't work. Disconnecterd the battery and left it, then re-connected it and that doesn't work. put the key in and out of the ignition 5 or 6 times doesn't work. I'm at a complete loss now, any help would be appreciated, thanks, desperate in Missouri.

This is a pure newbie question, but I have a '93 XJS and as noted here replaced the car battery and now can't get my car to stop beeping when I remove the key. One thing I am confused about is which button I am supposed to hit five times? There is a button on the actual key and a button on the security FOB that dangles from my keychain. I just got this car and neither button on the key or on the security fob seem to do anything. Doors don't unlock and annoying beeping noise will not stop unless I disconnect the battery. When I press the button on the security fob nothing seems to happen. It makes no sound. Any help would be most appreciated:-)

The button you need to press is on the remote key fob. FIRST, get a new battery in the fob (s), second, disconnect the wait a bit and reconnect the battery. The car will beep or cherp 5 times. after each beep press the fob and the alarm will answer. If you have more than 1 remote press each once after the beep until you have pressed all remotes. After that press any one remote until you press and got an answer 5 times.

I'm sure your alarm uses 318 MHz part dbc 10084 not 433 MHz but here is new case and a new remote.

Hmmm. I'm a bit worried the fob might be bad as I tried a new battery and still nothing. I saw a video wth someone taking apart the center console and installing a toggle switch to program a new fob. Is it really that complicated to program a new fob? In regards to the button on the key all that does is turn on a lightbulb on the key? I can let that go, but gotta get this incessant beeping to end. Thanks again for the info. Forums like this are a lifesaver for me :-)

Also put your car details in the footer option. Helps us Help you. Your car could have 1 of 2 alarms fitted as '93 was a change year.

We often get questions from customers on how to recode their remote alarm transmitters after replacing batteries. Below are the procedures for performing this recoding for 1990-1994 XJ6s. These procedures will only apply to Jaguar original equipment alarm systems, of course.


1990-92 XJ6 cars: This has the valet ON/OFF switch (security switch ?) on the steering wheel near the key lock and no red LED on the cigar lighter.

1. Record radio security code (if so equipped).
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal/cable.
3. Reconnect negative battery terminal/cable; "beeping" should be heard.
4. Press each transmitter so a total of 5 confirmations are heard.
5. Test operation. Enter radio code (if needed). Set clock.


1993-94 XJ6 cars: Red LED on the cigar lighter

1. Turn ignition key ON.
2. Turn security switch OFF (located in center console).
3. Turn ignition key OFF.
4. Turn security switch ON.
5. Cycle security system switch ON/OFF rapidly 4 times (within 5 seconds).
6. Press each transmitter so a total of 5 confirmations are heard.

On my 1993, a 318 Mhz fob. I use the first procedure and it worked fine. On the second procedure I don't have a number 4. I also have inboard rear brakes....I think I have an early production 1993....Comment?????

Wait a minute! Now I'm confused. When we talk about batteries are we talking about the small battery for the alarm system and on my car dead as a door nail, or are we talking about the car's primary battery power? When I set up the remotes I disconnected the primary power battery for the car. That worked.

Do you have the little black on/off valet switch near the ignition key and red led ?
