This annoys me the most on my XJS
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...2766dfacc.jpeg
The tray underneath the passenger airbag. It always pops open at the most inopportune moments and startles me. The one currently fitted is a replacement, as I thought the original was not latching properly. does anyone else have this problem? Is there some sort of aesthetically pleasing solution to secure this really well? Thanks |
spikepaga,
New clips that hold the panel to the horizontal bar. That should cure it. I'm intrigued by your replacement panel. It looks different to a standard one? Cheers Paul |

Hi Spikepaga
I had exactly the same problem as you and fixed it by inserting a Plastic Rawplug in the hole and then secured it with a Self Tapping Screw |

Hi Spike
I can't show you on the actual Car, as She's all bedded down in the Garage at the moment but these Photos should explain it far better than I can https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...b2b12f6791.jpg The Green Wall Plug (comes in various sizes) you can probably get them at Wallmart goes in the Hole in the Car which is already there Then a Self Tapping Screw with a Washer, goes through the Tab on the side of the Shelf (which also has a Pre-drilled hole) and then into the Wall Plug you inserted into the Hole and then just tighten it up with a Screwdriver https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c1ec99be1c.jpg |

Hi Spike
Maybe its me that got it wrong translating RHD into LHD, I'll have another look at it when I get her out of the Garage |
If that is what bothers you the most, go buy a lottery ticket!
You're one lucky fellow. |
I was about to pull the trigger on this:
NVENT CADDY SC2E Cable Flange Clip,Spring Steel or the SC4E but then I came across a parts car that I was able to snag the real clips from. After doing tons of research it seems that the part above should work...but I don't know. By the way, those panels look identical to what I have in my 96...what seems to look strange about it? |
