I'm sorry I am having a hard time figuring out what this does that jackstands don't except preventing you from removing wheels?

Looks like a good product. Nice to have the adjustability. Im cheap and will stick with my 12 x 12 x 15inch blocks.

I mean they look really solid, Jalopnik just recently had a post about them, but I don't get what they do. They are over $500 new and you can buy a set of jackstands for $40 and have the ability to remove the wheels.

I was a lot more interested in the 'Beam' attached to the 'Trolley Jack' lifting up that 'Vette'

Which seems to do a Similar Job, to the 'Jacking Beam' they use for 'MOT's'

Now that I've got a MIG Welder, I might try making one, with maybe a different attachment to go under the front beam.

I really could have done with that when 'Bleeding my Brakes' last Summer, instead of having to lift her up, one side at a time.

For my 2c into the question, save your dollops and look for a low to mid height car hoist, something like a tyre changer, you can find the odd one cheap, you just need to be patient, you really want to have your tyres free, it makes a huge difference and a whole lot more versatile.

Yeah, I mean I know a bendpak scissor lift is closer to 1500 compared to this 500, but its a completely automatic lift, which is more than 3x the convenience and engineering that goes into some wheel stands.

I realize you are looking at them for closer to 300, but I just don't really get what they do. These would be TOTALLY different if they looked the way they did and had a hook up for a bottle jack on the side. You could just attach the jack, even full lowered and jack it up and then lock it.

But with these you still have to go around the car one at a time or jack from the center and place them under each side, which is no different than using jackstands except you can't do any suspension of brake work.

Idk they look well made, but 300 for my Jag would be a full set of bushings, ball joints, and tie rod ends. And then I could replace them...which I couldn't do with these things.

agreed for that price a used tire machine will add so much more versatility and practicality to your garage compared to some jackstand/car ramp hybrid.

One thing I shall add, If you do find a lift at the right price, please get someone who knows about them to check it is safe to use first!!!!!!!!!!!
I may get a chance over the weekend to to take some pics and show you my hoist.
I do apologise for my typing error earlier a dollap is meant to be a dollar.

Thanks All,

I was thinking the same thing...

over 500 for four stands that go under the wheels when I have found lifts brand new for 1500 that I can have the wheel off ect... most likely about 2000 installed...

4 times the price 10 times the usefulness

I have some 6000lbs jack stands
It might just be better to save up for the lift (and face the wife :-) ) or do with out...

oh, new house then lift... wife happy, me happy...

or do without the lift or the wife. You need to be clearer.
