Automatic seat belt is stuck.

Hi guys,

Today I decided to go for a ride down to my local music store. When I tried to start my car I found that the battery was dead. So with some help I went to jump my battery. The battery would read as normal and the lights would turn on fine, but went to start the car the lights on the dash would flash and the car made a repeating beep sound. (this is while the jumper cables are still hooked up) As I'm trying a few times I notice that the passenger side seat belt moves sluggishly. Then after the 10th time trying to start the car I give up. I shut the car off and get out shutting the door. This is when I notice that the passenger side belt gets stuck half way down, while its motor continues to attempt to move it thus draining the battery completely. That is how I left it in the garage. Dead, with the seat belt stuck. The seat belt is the only reason I can think of that would kill the battery. It ran fine yesterday night and all the doors where shut and the lights off. (if it helps, I live in MA so right now the temp is around 20-40 F) The battery is brand new. How can I fix this? How much money is this going to cost?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jake

Have you detached the belt from the moving clasp part? Mine has become stuck a few times because the belt retractor stuck and wouldn't let the belt finish the cycle. Just kept trying to.

No I'll have to try that. I've got to get some juice in the battery first. Can't seem to find my charger...Thank you for the tip.

Jake
