buzzing noise from speaker.....
 

My left front main speaker has electrical buzz which is annoying.
I read that earthing the speaker can help? But hey i have no idea.

It seems to be only that speaker.

Amp in boot with a cross over under the dash and tweeters mounted up the front.

Aftermarket stereo systems are a world of their one, as are the people that do the installations.

That speaker only, would point to a wiring issue, crossed over networks, as in +ve and -ve speaker wires, MAYBE???????

Many hours will be consumed tracing every single wire in relation to the whole installation, and EARTHS will be critical on the power supply side.

NOT convinced of earthing a speaker -ve terminal on a modern system, as that is mostly taken care of inside the amp itself.

BUT

Our Audio members, down the home page a tad more may well have better advice than me.

DO NOT earth any of the speaker wires, this WILL kill the amp.

Is it the speaker in the picture that is buzzing or is it coming through its partner as well, by that I mean the speaker in the door.

The first thing I would do is swap the left and right speakers over to see if the problem is in the speaker. If you can get at the speaker wiring at the amp swap it there. My first guess would be a bad speaker. This happens with too much volume, the speaker coil gets hot and melts then the coil drags on the magnet.

If it's not the speaker swap the leads back, then swap the input to the amp Left and Right channels. If the noise stays on the left channel then the problem is in the amp. If the noise moves to the right then you need to go back to the head unit.
