Cant fill up my Fuel Tank! 94 xjs 4.0

Luckily I take great pleasure in fixing things and problem solving, cause now I cant fill my fuel tank up. I read up on it and it seems there is a vacuum issue somewhere. Just want to check in with other xjs owners to see if they had a similar issue. Maybe there is a known issue with the purge valve sticking in the closed position? Any help appreciated.

I had a similar problem on my 92 V12. It would take me about 20 minutes to fill up the tank because I had to literally trickle the fuel in. I also got a really sore hand from holding the gas pump trigger. Now, in a car that does 10MPG, having to do this every 200 miles became a real pain....... "Luckily" I suffered a fuel pump failure early this year, which required the fuel tank to be taken out. While we we in there, my mechanic (trusted Jaguar indy specialist) checked everything in the filler line and couldn't find anything.

Once I got the car back on the road and went to my usual gas station, and my usual pump (I am a creature of almost OCD like habits) I found exactly the same poor filling performance as before.

Then I moved house....... and I had to go to a different gas station......... and a different gas pump...... and the bl**dy thing filled up perfect, so perfect I could use the trigger lock on the pump....... I was astounded....... then I thought back and sure enough, previously I had only EVER used one pump at one gas station. I then drove back to the previous gas station (used 4 gallons of gas to get there), and tried to top up at the old pump. Same poor performance.

I cannot explain this..... (angle of pump head, flow pattern, flow rate, garden fairies) but it is 100% consistent.

Have you tried other garages and pumps to see if yours also has this weird sensitivity ?

I filled it up last night from a gas station with a brand new looking pump. I did not have any issues this time. Odd because the two gas stations I was having issues with, Ive been going to for 6 months. Im still not convinced its not the purge valve or something, but Im not going to worry about it unless it becomes an issue again.

I have had this car for about four years and have only started to have this problem in the last two weeks. I have tried two different service stations.
