Dang, just completed a rear brake job, got the exhaust back on and was hoping to take my first "real" ride in my 90 Convert I just acquired. Then I discover I can't open the passenger door. I've fiddled with the locking handle, the inside and outside handles, and the key lock. I can't get the door card off, with the door closed, to gain access to any mechanisms. I'm screwed! What to do? {I asked my paint-less dent guy to come help with all his long rods and levers. Infact he removed a ton of dents in this door, and possibly "tweaked" some rod out of position?. But he can't come till the middle of next week.} HELP Please

 

If you can get the window down, you can probably get in there with a coat hanger and actuate the latch. I’d start by going to JDHT and look up the lock assembly diagram and see where you could ideally yank on it to let it do what it does.

 

Yes I can lower the window...coat hanger is a good idea to start.

 

Thanks Vee. Got the door open with a coat hanger. My paintless dent removal guy had dislodged a rod. Now to figure out why the central locking isn't working. Probably just need some lubrication I hope.

 

Back 2014 my left side CL didn't work. Reason: Mechanism had rusty in place. A fair bit of effort and time got it movihg again. Works a charm since then...
