Chrome paint

My pre facelift front grille has lost some of its chrome. Just wondered if anyone has tried re painting using chrome paint? I think I will give it a try with some etch primer first.

The grille chrome is made of a plasticated chrome stuff, Brinny. It would be worth a test on an invisible area to see what, if anything, takes on the surface.

I'd be inclined to try chrome vinyl wrap or just paint it black.

My headlight surrounds were broken and the chrome was peeling. I de-chromed them and painted them black. Looks good IMO

'Chrome' tape is a good option - chrome 'paint' is bull$hit, no such thing!

The closest thing to an actual 'paint' would be a micro-ground powder lacquer suspension, but AFAIK that product only comes in Japanese pens from craft stores - which - if flowed on 'correctly' (dripped onto a horizontal surface so that the powder floats to the top) will approximate the closest thing, but still not all THAT close ...plus, because it has to be applied so thickly to achieve the effect, it takes ages to dry .....and if you disturb or touch it in any way, ruins the finish

It looks more like silver than chrome as will all aluminum powder paints.

Most common spray bomb miracle powder 'chrome' paints will still show a slightly sandy surface which can be lessened or even obliterated by top coating with clear, BTW, never go by the cap colour on a spray bomb - that cap was NEVER made by painting!

HTH
