Convertible Top Conditioner/Sealer
I have a 96 XJS Convertible. From what I gathered with the last owner it is the Original Convertible Top. The color is Burgandy/Cranberry. It still looks great although the color is not as bright as it used to be.
Supposedly there are products out there that you can use after you clean it with canvas top cleaner. I have gone to several auto parts but nobody carries a conditioner/color enhancer.....Lots of stuff for Vinyl tops but not canvas. Short of going to a boat store (Live In Venice, Fl) DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO BRING BACK THE COLOR TO MY CANVAS CONVERTIBLE TOP. HOME IDEAS OR STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS!! Thanks Softball Paul 1996 2+2 Convertible 1957 XK140 Drophead Every other British Sports Car known to mankind. |

Softball Paul,
+1 for the Renovo products. I have used both the cleaner and the recolourant (available in different colours) and it makes a real difference. Paul |
For canvas tops, I have had good luck with RaggTop.
They make a version for fabric tops, and a separate version for vinyl. Be sure to read the label. |
What about 3M fabric water guard spray ?

Amazon.com: Raggtopp Fabric Cleaner and Protectant Kit: Automotive They make a version for fabric tops, and a separate version for vinyl. Be sure to read the label. I was disappointed in the fact that the sealer only gave about 1.5 coats and looking at the sealer can realized that Camp Dry Heavy Duty Water Repellent Spray was the same thing at a much lower per/can cost and I have been very happy with the beading repelling of water and dew with it... and still lets the fabric breath Do not use the one with silicone... I still use the Raggtop cleaner... |

I stand by the Kiwi as I just pick up a can or two in Wal-Mart (Cheap) |
This Kiwi product, will it bring back or enhance the original color of the top?

but after the application of the restorer I would use the Kiwi as it is 5 - 6 dollars a 10.5 oz can at wal-mart in the shoe section... I did not worry about that as I have scheduled a replacement top in 5 years... just saving up for it... have not looked into spray fabric dye... I could look into it... I will check the Fabric/ hobby shops Looked and now I know why I did not consider it... I see BLACK but not DARK BLUE and I have the dark blue top... |
Jonathon,
There is a product called Renovo and they do make the Blue as well as my color Dark Red/Cranberry. Paul |
Paul,
Renovo is the company referenced by OrangeBlossom and the products that I have used. I can vouch for the blue fabric reconditioner. Paul |

How about black streaks on a tan top. I have been told it is a fungus. Any ideas on cleaning it?
