Driver's Power Seat Module 92 XJS V12

The driver's power seat back will not recline. I'm told it is the power seat module that's faulty. I tried swapping it for the passenger seat module but it is a different size and the connections are different. Does anyone know where I might get the module fixed?

If you wanted to part swap, here is what I think would be the correct part. Driver seat with memory module. It isn't cheap and hopefully whoever diagnosed it knows it is faulty. I personally would take it out and open it up and look at all the solder joints and look for any corrosion. It is perfectly reasonable for a module like that to not age well.

good luck

Just on the off chance, have you checked the fuses? There are two, one for fore/aft movement and the other for recline. Might get lucky :)

Allan

Thanks AG but the seat would incline forward but not back.

Thanks. I'll open up the module and check the solder.

Ah!!

Did the person who diagnosed the switch pack actually pull it out and check the outputs or was it just sage advice?

I say that because unless he did, the problem may very well lie at the seat ECU. It is right in front of the driver's seat under a carpeted cover. It's quite common that the connections here get corroded as moisture gathers in the footwells.

It's very easy to check, Pin 37 of the large 48 way connector should have 12V when the button for recline is depressed.

If you don't already have one, download the electrical guide for your car from the 'How to" links at the top of this forum, it will come in very handy :)

Cheers,

Allan
