Electrical contact cleaner
I need to start on cleaning up the wiring and relay contacts on my car. I have looked around and searches seem to point a WD40 contact cleaner. What do you guys who know what's best use ??

Cheers Do NOT use WD40 as a contact cleaner (or many of the other uses it is recommended for). Over time WD40 turns into a gummy coating that becomes a dirt magnet and the residue sort of caramelizes and actually hinders conductivity. |
Check out Deoxit. Not as cheap as CRC, but I think it's a better product.

Electrical contact cleaner
Specifically Caig Corp. Cramolin De-Oxit D5, $ 20.00 per spray bottle from MCM or elsewhere.

I've tried several and haven't found any that didn't work. CRC is available everywhere and it does the job. That's good enough for me :)

In my last job (last year) I repaired military electronics (FA18 test gear) we used IPA to clean contacts. CRC works just fine.
Or you can use IPA and Vaseline will work just as well. You do not need to lubricate the electrical contact only the mechanism. |
Its not the standard WD40....
does this gum up same as the other WD40 ? WD 40 300083 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray 11 oz Pack of 1 New | eBay |
